A settlement is in the works in a lawsuit filed by a concessionaire over a lucrative contract at the Grand Canyon.

The Arizona Congressional Delegation is asking the National Park Service to refund the state for the expenses it incurred during the federal government shutdown in October.

The letter to the National Park Service calls for Arizona to be reimbursed for the time Grand Canyon National Park was open during the shutdown. It cost the state a total of $465,000 for the five days it funded park operations.

Members of the Arizona delegation are calling for the reimbursement, because the park service collected entrance fees during the time the park was open with state money, and the funding resolution that reopened the federal government refunded the Park Service for operations during the shutdown. Now, the state wants to see that money repaid.
