How Teacher Protests Changed The Conversation At Teach For America

As the new school year gets underway, state education funding is still a front and center issue in Arizona. The teacher shortage in the state persists and many educators say they still aren’t seeing enough money go toward education.

In the last year, we’ve seen teacher walkouts and protests here and around the country as the debate over teacher pay and the value of public education came to a head. So what has all of this done to an organization like Teach for America, whose mission is all about recruiting new teachers?

For more on that, The Show sat down with Steve Erickson, vice president for external affairs at Teach for America, who said it’s not hurting their recruiting efforts. In fact, it may be helping them.
