Group Pushes For Arizona Ballot Initiative to Cap Tuition Rates

When Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed the budget passed by lawmakers earlier this month, he implemented a plan that would cut nearly $100 million from the state’s three public universities.

That could lead to another increase in tuition rates, which have gone up by about 80 percent since 2009.

Mathew Capalby of Flagstaff says that trend has to stop and it’s why he’s become president of Save Our Students, a group pushing for a ballot initiative that would cap in-state tuition rates.
