Jerice Hunter Trial Will Not Be Live-Streamed

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge is restricting video coverage of the trial of an Arizona woman in the 2011 disappearance of her 5-year-old daughter.

Under the ruling from Judge Rosa Mroz, video and audio recording at the trial of Jerice Hunter will generally be permitted. But she is prohibiting live-streaming of the proceedings.

Mroz also barred video recording of the testimony of three particular witnesses, out of fears that could potentially impact Hunter’s right to get a fair trial.

The judge says some of the witnesses are reluctant to testify and that live-streaming could taint their testimony.

Hunter has pleaded not guilty to murder and child abuse charges, in the disappearance of her daughter, Jhessye Shockley. Police believe the girl was killed and her body dumped in a trash bin before she was ever reported missing.
