Arizona State University's men's basketball program is in the market for a new head coach following the firing of Herb Sendek.

ASU let Sendek go after nine seasons that included two NCAA Tournaments, four National Invitation Tournament appearances and three seasons without a postseason appearance.

Sendek went 158-137 during his nine seasons at ASU and was fired after a short Tuesday morning meeting with Vice President of Athletics Ray Anderson, who said the department's search for Sendek's successor will be meticulous but quick.

After making the NCAA Tournament in 2014, Sendek was given a contract extension through 2019, though it came with success-based expectations. Each year added to the deal was based upon benchmarks of winning games.

The Sun Devils won their opening game in the NIT, but lost to Richmond on Sunday to end the season with 18 wins and 16 losses.
