If you’re in Glendale and some other parts of the West Valley, you may notice increased activity in and out of Luke Air Force Base.

Luke is hosting Forging Sabre, an exercise involving Luke’s 425th Fighter Squadron, the 428th Fighter Squadron from Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho and members of the Republic of Singapore’s armed forces.

They’ll be conducting exercises from Tuesday, through Dec. 15, and over the next two weekends at Luke and at the Barry M. Goldwater Range.

The exercises will involve the F-16, and F-15 Fighters, along with Chinook and Apache helicopters.

That’s likely to mean more noise than usual, around both Luke and the Goldwater Range. It will also mean an increased military presence along State Route 85, south of Gila Bend, as the military positions itself within the Goldwater Range.

The exercises are to provide the Singapore armed forces an opportunity to train its full spectrum of aircraft and personnel.
