March 27, 2012

Maricopa County has a new manager. The Board of Supervisors Tuesday appointed Tom Manos to the position.  He’ll replace current County Manager David Smith, who’s retiring at the end of next month. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.

MARK BRODIE: Manos has worked for the county before. From 1984 through 2009, he served as Assistant County Manager and Chief Financial Officer. The Board also appointed Manos in 2003 to oversee the transition of the then Maricopa Medical Center to the newly formed Special Health Care District. In 2009, Manos moved to Governor Brewer’s transition team, and helped hire senior staff. He then became the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Finance and Budget. In a statement, Manos says he’s honored to be selected to be the new county manager, and looks forward to working with the Board of Supervisors.
