Guns on campus bill is dead

March 28, 2012

A bill that would have allowed concealed weapons on Arizona universities and college campuses is dead. State Senator Ron Gould, who sponsored the bill, said there is not enough support among lawmakers.

Colleges and universities would have only been able to ban guns if they provided secure storage lockers. The Arizona Board of Regents strongly opposed the proposal, saying it would have cost millions of dollars to construct and provide lockers as required by the proposal.
