Former Arizona state Rep. Don Shooter maintains his claim that he was wrongfully ousted from the House. The former Yuma lawmaker has hired new legal help.

In early June of this year, a federal judge threw out Shooter’s claim that his civil rights were violated by the investigation that led to his removal from the House.

Shooter said he was thrown out of office without a committee hearing.

“Maybe every guy that was accused by some girl was guilty," Shooter said. "I don't know. But don't you think you ought to give them a chance to state their case? A lot of the guys they represented were never given the chance to do it. They were just tossed out."

Shooter was expelled last year in a 56-3 House vote due to allegations of sexual harassment and other inappropriate conduct.

Shooter’s new lawyers say he was removed in retaliation for Shooter’s investigation at the highest levels of the Arizona Legislature.
