ASU police are trying to find out who’s behind a series of anti-Semitic posters found on the Tempe campus. They bear the same message as posters seen throughout the Phoenix area in the past year.

The posters say “Love Not Hate,” with a swastika for the "O" in "love" and a Star of David for the "A" in "hate."

The posters do not make a direct call for violence, so they are protected as free speech. But Carlos Galindo-Elvira with the Anti-Defamation League is working with campus and Tempe police as well as Jewish student groups to try to find the source.

"We’re very concerned about the use of a swastika, which is classified as a hate symbol," Said Carlos Galindo-Elvira, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League. "And, ultimately more concerned about the safety and security of Jewish students on campus."

Since late last year, the same posters have shown up around the state. In January, a number of them were posted outside Skyline High School in Mesa. Those were accompanied by an additional poster saying, "You Are Not Alone."
