Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport has been named the top large airport in the nation, based on an annual study conducted by the Wall Street Journal.

Sky Harbor ranked high for convenience, reliability, proximity, and ease of use when traveling to and from downtown Phoenix.

Mayor Kate Gallego says the city has made a concerted effort to make the airport stand out from its competitors. “Some of our new investments include faster Wi-Fi. We also have great local restaurants. Some of the favorites from Phoenix are at Sky Harbor. We are very respectful of people’s schedules and short wait times, short taxis,' Gallego said.

The study shows the airport has low TSA screening times and few flight cancellations. Gallego also said the city will be adding more services.

“We are going to be starting delivery at the gate if you want to order food, we’re upgrading our television service in the terminal. We are also building more modern gates with more amenities; lots of charging outlets, and we’ll be opening up new gates early next year in Terminal 3," Gallego said.

Gallego says Sky Harbor is maintaining high levels of service, despite an ever-growing volume of passengers. “We see more and more flights, which is not surprising given how quickly we are growing as a community. We’ll be working hard to serve more destinations and improve the experience," she said.

Sky Harbor has a nearly $2 billion capital investment program underway to help elevate the passenger experience.
