Phoenix St. Mary’s Food Bank is short about 8,000 turkeys for Thanksgiving this year.

They’re expecting about 12,000 families to come through their facility leading up to Thanksgiving so being short 8,000 turkeys had them worried. Now, things are looking up.

Amber Allen is with Desert Financial Credit Union said they’re stepping up as part of their “Random Acts of Kindness” Initiative.

“We wanted to make sure that everybody had a Thanksgiving meal so we are matching every single turkey that’s donated from now until Thanksgiving to the St. Mary’s Food Drive," said Allen.

St. Mary’s is hosting a food drive at local Albertsons and Fry’s grocery stores today to collect more turkeys.
