Two Arizona transportation projects will receive more than $17 million in federal funds. The money will go toward improving bus safety and efficiency.

The Fort Apache Connection transit service will get $160,000, which will go to fund new vehicles and expand transit service in east central Arizona.

The project is supposed to improve the safety and reliability of the service that includes parts of Navajo, Gila and Apache counties.

Another $17.3 million will fund the construction of a downtown connection center in Flagstaff. It will also buy electric buses for the Mountain Line transit service there.
