Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management has released a report projecting multitrillion-dollar opportunities and benefits they say could accrue from climate restoration efforts.

In recent years, discussions have begun looking beyond climate change mitigation and adaptation to restoration: returning climate factors like atmospheric carbon and Arctic ice to pre-industrial levels.

The Thunderbird report says such efforts could produce market opportunities of $1 trillion to 3 trillion, and broader economic, social and environmental benefits of $3 trillion to $5 trillion annually by 2030.

That's on top of previous research estimating similar gains from adaptation and mitigation.

The report was released at a gathering co-hosted by Thunderbird at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
