AAA Study Shows Buyers' Hesitation For Driving Electric Is Charging Convenience
A new study by the American Automobile Association has found that fear of running out of power and not finding a charging station are the two biggest misgivings car buyers have about investing in electric vehicles.
Despite cuts in government subsidies for electric car manufacturers, auto makers have projected putting millions electric vehicle owners on Arizona roads before the end of 2023.
On PBS 8's Arizona Horizon, AAA Arizona's Aldo Vazquez said buyers are becoming converts once they invest and see the long-term return.
"Driving an electric vehicle, charging an electric vehicle for one year, driving 1,500 miles, will cost you about $550," Vazquez stated. On the other hand, he said, "Driving a gas powered vehicle the same distance in the same year, will cost you about $12,050."
The average mileage for most electric cars before recharging is currently 100 miles, with Tesla's Model S surpassing that at 250 miles.
