In exchange for the seventh and 10th selections in this year’s WNBA draft, and a first-round pick in the 2021 draft, the Mercury traded forward DeWanna Bonner to the Connecticut Sun.

The team also signed star center Brittney Griner to a multi-year contract extension Friday.

"Told y'all I was coming back, I'm not going nowhere," Griner said in a video posted on Twitter. "Valley for life!"

Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman said he’s watched Griner transform into one of the most dominant players in the WNBA.

"A force on the court, her work in the Phoenix community is what makes her such a special person," he said in a statement. "We are thrilled to continue to watch her career grow here in Phoenix."

The 6-foot-9-inch Griner is the fourth player in WNBA history to average 20 points per game in three consecutive seasons.

The Mercury also signed four-time WNBA All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith from the Dallas Wings in exchange for three draft picks.

"She has had an amazing career at all levels," Mercury guard Diana Taurasi said of Diggins-Smith. "I know she'll continue to grow here in the Valley as one of the best players in the world."
