Warm Weekend Ahead, Followed By Cooler, Wetter Week

Temperatures in the Phoenix area will warm up to the upper 70s this weekend, before dropping dramatically as a low-pressure system moves in later on Sunday.

National Weather Service meteorologist Megan Taylor says the high country can expect rain and snow, but the chances of precipitation are lower in the central and southern parts of Arizona.

"We have a trough of low pressure approaching the area by Sunday, so temperatures will start to decrease on Sunday by about 5 to 10 degrees or so, and we’re also going to see breezy winds develop by Sunday afternoon," Taylor said. "It’s not an overly wet system like the one we just saw, so less precipitation than the system last weekend."

The National Weather Service predicts about a 40% chance of rain in the Phoenix area into Monday night.
