Arizona CenturyLink customers should soon see a refund check if they signed up for services between 2013 and 2016.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday that it secured a nearly $11 million consent judgment against CenturyLink for engaging in deceptive and unfair advertising and billing practices.

“Century Link offered Arizona consumers $1.9 million in closer discounts as an incentive to get people to sign up for service,” said Katie Conners with the Attorney General’s Office, “but they frequently failed to apply those discounts to consumers’ accounts.”

As part of the judgment, CenturyLink must refund customers nearly $2 million.

The state will receive a $7 million settlement, as well as $2 million from CenturyLink to improve fiber optic infrastructure.
