PHOENIX — A man accused of fatally stabbing a Phoenix woman nearly 26 years ago has been convicted of first-degree murder.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 59-year-old Cudellious Love was found guilty Monday. He's scheduled to be sentenced July 6.

Love was arrested last June on suspicion of first-degree murder, sexual assault and burglary in the death of 27-year-old Laura Hunding.

She was discovered dead inside her unlocked apartment on July 17, 1989.

Phoenix police said Hunding was stabbed in the chest and abdomen and sexually assaulted.

They said a kitchen drawer was found opened and a knife was missing from its sheath.

DNA was collected from the scene of the crime, but police say it wasn't matched to Love until last year.

Detectives tracked him down and interviewed him in May 2014.
