Gov. Jan Brewer is expected to release her budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year in two weeks, and while the state’s economy is getting better, most observers do not expect the new spending plan to include a lot of new...spending. And, that seems to be true across the country.

Todd Haggerty is a policy analyst with the National Conference of State Legislatures and wrote the group’s most recent state budget update, which generally includes numbers through the end of October. He describes state budgets nationwide as stable but not spectacular.
