Emergency fire restrictions will still go into place today at Tonto National Forest, located north of Phoenix.

Carrie Templin with Tonto said there has not been enough rain from this most recent storm to reconsider the restrictions.

“We anticipate, after this storm passes, it’s going to quickly climb back up to 100 degrees. So, it’ll only take a day of drying to be right back to where we were the middle of last week,” Templin said.

The fire restrictions going into effect today prohibit illegal fires outside designated areas. Penalties can result in $5,000 fines.
