With schools closed for at least three more weeks, Arizona PBS has partnered with public television stations across the country to provide free educational content broadcast over the air to Arizona families.

As families come to grips with what could be long-lasting school closures, some parents are struggling with finding ways to help their children stay on pace with their educations. And for families without access to internet or digital technology, these needs are more acute.

“These school closures challenge teachers, parents and caregivers to find ways of keeping kids and teenagers engaged and learning,” Arizona PBS general manager Mary Mazur said in a statement. “As community-based public broadcasters with a mission to support education across our state, our stations are stepping up to provide trusted, high-quality resources to students and educators.”

Arizona PBS has partnered with public media networks across the country to bring educational content to television screens across Arizona for free.

"We quickly collaborated with Arizona public media so that all the districts could take advantage of this curriculum," Mazur said. "It doesn’t require internet access or a computer, so families or kids that don’t have digital technology available can continue learning."

For children aged pre-K to Grade 3, educational content will be broadcast on Arizona PBS from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., then available online or on the Arizona PBS Kids channel. For children in Grades 4 to 8, content will be broadcast from 6:30 a.m. to noon. For high school students, programming will broadcast between 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., when regular PBS programming resumes.

Additionally, Arizona State University is offering resources for K-12 students through ASU For You. Students can access dozens of free educational resources through that portal.
