The Maricopa County Recorder's Office has updated its list of candidates who have qualified for the upcoming primary election ballot.

Four candidates have gathered enough signatures to qualify for the Maricopa County attorney primary election ballot. Republican and incumbent, Allister Adel, as well as Democrats Bob McWhirter, Will Knight and Julie Gunnigle.

Tamika Wooten and Ryan Tait had previously declared their candidacy on the Democratic ticket, but Tait suspended his campaign in March, and Wooten did not get enough signatures.

Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio turned in the most signatures among Republican candidates looking to unseat Democratic incumbent Sheriff Paul Penzone.

Apraio’s former Chief Deputy Jerry Sheridan also made the Republican ballot as did Mike Crawford. Penzone is the only candidate listed for the Democratic primary in the sheriff's race.

The County Recorder's Office says nomination petitions are subject to challenges.
