Arizona Forestry Officials: Wildfire Potential High In Some Parts Of State

After a very rainy and snowy Arizona winter, state forestry officials are predicting a potentially active wildfire season.

Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management spokesperson Tiffany Davila says there’s too much grass.

“We’re going to see that potential for high fire activity in the central region down through the Sonoran Desert. In areas like Wittmann and Wickenburg we saw high fire activity last year, we do have the potential for that again this year," Davila said.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Davila says they plan to redesign the fire camps so the firefighters who may stay overnight will be far apart from each other.

Forestry officials also promise sustained fire-suppression resources.
