The Arizona Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction of a high-profile border activist accused of killing an Arizona father and daughter. The state high court upheld a lower court’s decision that sentenced Shawna Forde to death. In 2011, she was convicted of first-degree murder for shooting 29-year-old Raul Flores and his 9-year-old daughter Brisenia.

Authorities said Forde planned to invade and rob Flores’ home in Arivaca in southern Arizona. They said she believed the house of the alleged drug dealer had weapons, drugs and a stash of money. Prosecutors said Forde was planning to use the money to fund a border watch group.
