This is an election year, and elections themselves have been a big issue, both in Arizona, with the controversial law approved last year which lawmakers are now working to repeal and nationally, with the Supreme Court ruling invalidating parts of the Voting Rights Act.

"The bipartisan commission I appointed, chaired by my campaign lawyer and Gov. Romney’s campaign lawyer, came together and have offered reforms that no one has to wait more than a half hour to vote. Let's support these efforts," Obama said.

That commission’s report also holds Arizona up as a model in two areas, online registration and the Permanent Early Voting List. Doug Chapin talked more about that. He is the director of the Program for Excellence in Election Admininstation at the University of Minnesota and was an informal advisor to the commission.
