Supreme Court upholds most of the Affordable Care Act

June 28, 2012

The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the individual insurance requirement at the heart of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. KJZZ's Dennis Lambert spoke with James E. Dalen, Dean Emeritus of the University of Arizona College of Medicine, about the decision.

The high court on Thursday morning handed Obama a campaign season victory in rejecting arguments that Congress went too far in requiring most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty. The court has essentially upheld the entire Affordable Care Act, except for reading the Medicaid expansion, very narrowly. Dalen discuss the court ruling in detail.
