Three people have been arrested after Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say they found a 481-foot drug tunnel running between residences on either side of the Mexican border in Nogales.

ICE spokeswoman Amber Cargile says it was a fairly sophisticated tunnel.

“This tunnel’s only about two-by-three-feet wide, but it did contain wood shoring inside to give it some structure, electric lighting, and it even had some fans inside to circulate air,” Cargile said.

Cargile said 411-feet of the tunnel were under American soil, with 70-feet in Mexico. It was the longest drug tunnel ever found in Nogales. Cargile says two Mexican men and one American man were arrested, with agents seizing both marijuana and heroin.
