AARP is looking to expand its Arizona fraud-education programs beyond Maricopa and Pima counties. The program relies on trained volunteers to make presentations to communities and organizations in the state with the country’s highest rate of identity theft. People who sign up for the Fraud Watch program will get regular fraud alerts, according to AARP’s Associate state director David Parra.

"Monthly alerts about common scams, fraud and also tips on what to do to avoid being victimized, and also resources on where to go if they have been victimized," said Parra.

The organization is looking for volunteers to expand presentations to places like Yuma, Prescott and Flagstaff. Parra said those who are interested should contact the state AARP office.
