It’s hard to see the mountains that surround the Valley through the persistent haze. That cloud of dust is still hanging around from Tuesday evening’s storm, and it’s not expected to dissipate anytime soon. Rain and wind will clear the air, but the National Weather Service said precipitation is not in the forecast anytime soon.

The lingering dust has people reaching for tissues and allergy pills. CVS Pharmacist Don Tran said he has been running out of allergy meds more quickly this year.

“There is nasal congestion involved in this season too. Typically that’s not seen too much, but a lot of more people are complaining of nasal congestion in addition to the typical allergy symptoms,” said Tran.

Tran said customers have also been complaining about watery eyes from the weather. The ongoing drought and large wildfires over the past few years have made for dry conditions.

The National Weather Service said winds have kicked up particles from that dry soil to create this murky air.
