State transportation officials are asking evening rush hour drivers on Interstate 10 to plan ahead for Monday night’s College Football National Championship.

The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in Glendale, which is during of the busiest time of day on I-10 westbound. Commuters can expect traffic similar to when the Arizona Cardinals play on Monday or Thursday night football, said Steve Elliott, an Arizona Department of Transportation spokesman.  

“Our messages would be to leave earlier and leave later,” Elliott said. “Adjust your commute to when you think the peak game traffic’s going to be.”

Ticket holders can begin arriving at University of Phoenix Stadium as early as 10:30 a.m. Monday. ADOT is encouraging people staying in Scottsdale to take the Loop 101 to Glendale.
