Gas prices continue to rise in Arizona. They’re up four cents in the last week, to a statewide average $3.44 a gallon, according to AAA Arizona. Spokeswoman Michelle Donatti says that’s still almost 20 cents cheaper than last year and she says a smooth refinery maintenance season is one of the reasons.

“If there is any type of issue or hiccup during that process we generally do see prices react adversely, however, it’s been a pretty clear maintenance period,” Donatti said.

Donatti said prices in Arizona continue to be well below the national average of $3.61 a gallon. Flagstaff, at $3.58, has the highest average prices in the state, while Tucson’s $3.34 average remains the cheapest.
