A congressional committee is investigating patient deaths at the Phoenix VA Hospital to see if delayed care was a factor. 

Arizona Sen. John McCain says it’s not the first time the Phoenix facility has come under fire, and he wants the allegations investigated fully, not swept under the rug.

“It’s a terrible thing and we have to have a complete investigation and hold those responsible who are guilty of this kind of tragedy,” McCain said.

There have been allegations the hospital may be keeping two sets of books to conceal prolonged waits for patients needing treatment, and McCain says it wouldn’t surprise him if that proved to be the case.
