Even though she describes overall job growth for the next two years as slow and sub-par, Department of Administration Senior Economist Aruna Murthy says sectors like leisure and hospitality should see good job growth through 2015.

“We are expecting majority gains forecast in food services and drinking places,” Murthy said. “Overall it’s about 18,600 jobs forecast in leisure and hospitality, or 6.8 percent.”

Murthy also sees continued growth in construction, with most of it taking place in multi-family home building. She also sees a growth rate of 3 percent in retail this year, and about 3.1 percent in 2015.
