Police in Tempe arrested a man they believe was involved in a stolen bike ring.  Sergeant Mike Pooley says 46-year-old Rey Aguilar was arrested after officers searched his home. Pooley said Aguilar told detectives he bought bikes knowing that most, if not all of them were stolen.  He then sold them to a middle man who took the bicycles to Mexico where they were sold or disassembled so the parts could be sold.

“He did state that he would buy easily 20-plus bicycles a week. He would buy them anywhere from 15-dollars to 100-dollars a bike and he did state that he knew the majority of them, if not all of them were stolen,” said Pooley.

Pooley said even though Tempe Police confiscated stolen bikes and parts, they can't match the bikes to owners because most were not registered.
