Arizona Gas Prices Up Slightly This Memorial Day

The more than half a million Arizonans expected to drive to a Memorial Day destination will pay slightly more to fill up their gas tanks this year, compared to last.

AAA Arizona says the average for a gallon of regular, unleaded in the state is $3.51 — last year, it was $3.44. But, since 2010, that was the cheapest gas had been the week before Memorial Day.

Around the state, Flagstaff has the most expensive gas, while Tucson has the cheapest. Across the metro area, the East Valley has the least expensive gas, while Scottsdale has the most expensive. The national average price is $3.65 a gallon — more than a dime higher than Arizona’s.

The more than 718,000 Arizonans expected to travel over the upcoming holiday weekend is basically the same as last year — the vast majority of those travelers are expected to drive.
