Arizona already has 53 special license plates, but it may be
getting another. Lawmakers are looking
to create a so-called “extraordinary educators” special license plate to raise
money for public school teachers. A senate committee is slated to vote today on
a bill establishing the plate. The House already passed the measure in a 50-6
vote. It costs $32,000 to create a new plate, and if passed, proponents of the
educators’ license plate would have until 2016 to raise the funds.
