Hickman was unanimously approved by the other four board members Thursday afternoon. His family has operated Hickman’s Egg Ranch for several generations in the West Valley. Hickman says he hopes to use his marketing experience in business and apply it to government

"I’m going to do the living best I can to grab more businesses, great businesses from this country and bring them here and have them notice the infrastructure is new, the weather is perfect and I hope they light up in the West Valley or anywhere in the Valley," Hickman said.

The Board of Supervisors had not had a new member in a decade. Two new supervisors were elected in November. Hickman’s appointment means most of the board members have fewer than three months of experience. Hickman will have to campaign for the office during the next general election in 2014.
