The Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe Fire Departments battled a fire in Scottsdale early Tuesday morning at the showroom of the Mark Kia car dealership at Scottsdale Road and Roosevelt Street.

Jay Ducote, a Division Chief with Scottsdale Fire, says today was the Grand Opening for the dealership and that no cars had been put into the showroom yet, which made things easier for fire fighters.

“If the cars had been in the showroom, it would have been a hindrance for us, because we would have been unable to advance our hose lines or to pull ceiling with all those cars,” Ducote said. “So, it was nice that it was an empty showroom for us to try to make an interior attack.”

Ducote says the fire is now fully under control and an investigator is on site to determine the cause of the blaze and the amount of damage, but he says the entire showroom will have to be redone.
