School guns bill gets House committee hearing

A bill to allow school employees to carry guns is scheduled for a hearing Wednesday afternoon in a state House committee. The measure would apply to schools that have fewer than 600 students, do not have school resource officers and are more than 20 miles and 30 minutes from a law enforcement facility. It’s already cleared the state Senate – approval by the House Appropriations Committee would send the bill to the full House for debate.
