The woman who compiles and presents Arizona’s monthly jobless statistics has some tips for teens who are looking for summer jobs in the state.

Senior Economist Aruna Murthy says the outlook for young people in a crowded field of job seekers is bright.

“Kids have the flexibility of working for lower wages than the others do,” Murthy said. “So, depending on the job, if they are willing to work for the lower wage maybe the youngsters have a higher likelihood of finding a job.”

Murthy says the retail, leisure and hospitality and financial services sectors are areas where jobs may be most available.
