Residents in Oak Creek Canyon are keeping their eyes open for any kind of rain this season. Last night’s storm was minimal in Northern Arizona, but meteorologist Brian Klimowski said even small amounts of rain could cause big damage. 

“Oak Creek Canyon sees a good chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and this weekend,” said Klimowski. “We have to be careful, of course. It’s a fresh burn area so there’s an enhanced chance of debris flows and flash flooding in Oak Creek.”

All developed campgrounds, picnic areas, recreation sites and vehicle pullouts along State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon will remain closed this weekend.
