FDA detains imports of Mexican cucumbers linked to Arizona

April 26, 2013

Cucumbers distributed from southern Arizona have been linked to salmonella in 18 states.

The Food and Drug Administration is detaining imports of cucumbers from the Mexican company Daniel Cardenas Izabal and Miracle Greenhouse. The alert means the United States will not accept the imports unless the company can prove the produce is safe.

The cucumbers were distributed by Tricar Sales, of Rio Rico, Ariz. So far 73 people may have been sickened.
