Arizona among top ten bike-friendly states

May 01, 2013

Arizona has cracked the top ten bicycle-friendly states, according to new rankings from the League of American Bicyclists.

Washington State tops the list, for the sixth straight year, followed by Colorado, Oregon and Minnesota. Arizona ranks tenth, just behind Illinois, and right ahead of Maryland. That is up from 14th last year.

Among the positives cited by the group in Arizona are a state bicycle plan, a “Share the Road” campaign and the number of people who commute to work by bike.

But, it said, Arizona could improve its infrastructure and funding.

In addition to Arizona, Utah, California and Nevada also ranked in the top 20 bicycle-friendly states.
