Monsoon Storms Prove Powerful In NE Arizona On Thursday

Monsoon storm activity is expected to weaken the next few days, but there was a lot of activity Thursday in the northwestern part of the state.

National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Gorelow says some of the showers were fairly intense.

“These have been producing quite a bit of rain, from very heavy rain for some of these storms. One of our gauges up in northern Mohave County registered about 1.30 inches of rain in 15 minutes," Gorelow said.

Gorelow said the storm hit in a very sparsely populated area, but there no doubt was flash flooding in that part of the state as a result of the storm.
