A random act of kindness by a local cop has gone viral. The story of Natalie Simonick and her good deed has been shared more than 19,000 times -- and "liked" more than 140,000 times -- on the Phoenix Police Department’s Facebook page.

It all began a few months ago when Sergeant Simonick stopped 18-year-old Christian Felix, who she thought could be violating curfew. After finding no problems, she gave him a ride home. They got to talking, and Felix told her he walks more than six miles each way to his fast food job.

Impressed by his work ethic and character, Simonick decided to make a difference in Felix’s life. In the weeks that followed, she bought him a mountain bike, safety lights, helmet and bike lock.

The police sergeant also made sure he learned to ride his new bike safely. Felix’s mother calls Simonick an “angel.”
