Monsoon season, and mosquitos, aren't far off
The high heat is a signal that monsoon season is not far off. It begins, officially, on Saturday and one aspect of it you may prefer to avoid comes with a buzz.
It'll soon be peak season for mosquitoes and David Mizejewski of the National Wildlife Federation says you'll be targeted through a chemical trail you unwittingly leave in your wake.
"Carbon dioxide and other chemicals that are bodies emit through are skin, but mostly thru respiration, when we exhale and that's how the female mosquitos, which are the only ones that bite, that's how they kind of track you down," Mizejewski said.
He says even the standing water at the bottom of a flower pot can help breed mosquitoes in your yard. People are advised to eliminate any standing water around your home.
