Monsoon rains in Tucson
are leading to swift water rescues, according to fire officials. They had a pair of them Friday within hours
of one another. Tucson
fire Captain Chris Jurvig said a family was rescued first.
“Basically Houghton
Road had almost turned into what was a river,”
Jurvig said. “There was fast moving water, about one to two feet deep, with a vehicle
with a family of four that was completely surrounded by this water.”
Jurvig explained that two hours later, a woman became
stranded when an island was created around her and her dog by a running wash.
