Monsoon Leaves 4,500 Without Power

July 16, 2013

A monsoon storm in the East Valley last night damaged some homes and schools in the area and resulted in significant power outages. SRP Spokesman Scott Harelson says the outages from the storm were above average for a typical Arizona monsoon storm.

“We had outages scattered throughout the East Valley,” Harelson said. “We had some in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe and Ahwatukee, a total of about 4,500 customers without power at the peak of the storm.”

Harelson says power has been restored for most customers. Only about 20 remain without power due to damage that is currently under repair.
