Monsoon Season Means A Smaller Possibility of Wildfires

July 17, 2013

The arrival of the monsoons is good news for hikers and campers across southern Arizona. Starting Friday, fire restrictions will be lifted in the southeastern part of the state including the Coronado National Forest, Saguaro National Park and many other federal and state lands. The Forest Service said recent storms and forecasts for more rain means the possibility of wildfires has lessened to the point that restrictions can be lifted.

Earlier this week, fire restrictions were also lifted in several forests in central and northern Arizona.
